Welcome to another week in the Fresh Take Zone with Rahmad Hawkins.
This has been a very interesting season so far with many story lines. We are learning a lot about the players, coaches and their character. One of my favorite stories has been about Steve Smith, Sr. Throughout the years, Steve has been one of the most respected wide receivers in the NFL and he showed he still has it Sunday when he played his former team, the Carolina Panthers. It is sad that his former team could not recognize the kind of firepower they let go. Steve Smith, Sr., is the kind of guy you want and need in the locker room, field and sideline. It was said that his antics were overbearing for the team but on the field he gets the job done. Off the field, he has not made headlines for doing anything wrong and I honestly believe that keeping him would have been the the difference in whether the panthers make the playoffs.
Last week I also learned a lot about myself. Sometimes I pick games based on who I want to win instead of who I should pick even if I don’t like them so…. the teams that I cannot pick off of like instead of reason: New England, Falcons, Saints.
With that said, Game of the week
Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Francisco 49ers
In this week’s game of the week it comes down to two strong teams that can get the job done on any given Sunday. This is a heavyweight bout between two all around teams both having great offensive and defensive player’s. Here is the question or questions you have to ask; “Was the Chiefs’ last win the start of a run or were they just due for a big game?” and “Is this where the Niners make their turnaround?” I am a Niners fan but I think the Chiefs will get it done.
With each week moving pass so quickly with the excitement and anticipation of each week let’s not forget to celebrate our teams and players who put their bodies on the line each week.
Until next time, keep it fresh.
