NBA 2014-2015 Season Review & Playoff Projections

Time certainly has flown by like the skills many athletes in the NBA possess. I definitely have enjoyed every moment of the season. Steve Kerr has proven that being coached by two hall of fame coaches has definitely paid off Gregg Popovich and Phil Jackson both whom combined to total 16 championship rings in the last 24 years. Which is quite staggering to realize that. Essentially every other year one of these two charismatic coaches wins a ship. So it is no surprise that Steve Kerr has surpassed all expectations and has the Warriors in position to make a legitimate push for the title in his first year at the helm. At the beginning of the season I made some lofty predictions and I would like to revisit those just so see how things panned out compared to how I felt things would shape up.

Here are my predictions from October:

Western Conference Seeds

1. LA Clippers

2. San Antonio Spurs

3. OKC Thunder

4. Golden State Warriors

5. LA Lakers

6. Portland Trialblazers

7. Dallas Mavericks

8. New Orleans Pelicans

Eastern Conference

1. Cleveland Cavaliers

2. Chicago Bulls

3. New York Knicks

4. Boston Celtics

5. Miami Heat

6. Toronto Raptors

7. Charlotte Hornets

8. Atlanta Hawks

Lastly here is a list of players to watch.

All Star Alert: Jared Sullinger, Gordon Hayward, Goran Dragic, Eric Bledsoe, Andrew Wiggins, Michael Carter Williams, Chandler Parsons, Klay Thompson, Andre Drummond, Victor Oladipo, Kemba Walker, Alec Burks, Demar Derozan, Mason Plumlee, Nicola Vucevic.

Here is how everything happened in actuality:

(1)Hawks (2)Cavs (3)Bulls (4)Raptors (5)Wizards (6)Bucks (7)Celtics (8)Nets (9)Pacers (10)Heat (11)Bobcats (12)Pistons (13)Magic (14)Sixers (15)Knicks

(1)Warriors (2)Rockets (3)Clippers (4)Blazers (5)Grizzlies (6)Spurs (7)Mavericks (8)Pelicans (9)Thunder (10)Suns (11)Jazz (12)Nuggets (13)Kings (14)Lakers (15)Twolves

As you can see by my predictions and the way things occurred in the East was a bit off of my initial projections. I had no idea the Hawks would turn into Spurs East and Jason Kidd would turn the Bucks from zeroes to heroes without there newly acquired stud Jabari Parker who was loss early in the season due to a torn ACL. I also didn’t expect the Lakers to be that bad and it seems Father Time is defintely catching up to him if not lapping The Black Mamba. The biggest surprise of the season is the omission of OKC from the playoffs. The team was decimated with injuries from key players such as Kevin Durant and Serge Ibaka. Russell Westbrook definitely stepped his game up to a level that may put him in the running for best player in the league As far as player accolades is concerned I was definitely way off. My first team NBA predictions were credible for the most part although Big Al Jefferson was a stretch.
Here are my predictions for the playoffs! :
(1)Warriors 4 (8)Pelicans 1
(2)Rockets 4 (7)Mavericks 3
(3)Clippers 4 (6)Spurs 3
(4)Trailblazers 4 (5)Grizzlies 3
Warriors 4 Trailblazers 2
Clippers 4 Rockets 3
West Finals
Clippers 4 Warriors 3
(1)Hawks 4 (8)Nets 1
(2)Cavaliers 4 (7)Celtics 0
(3) Bulls 4 (6)Bucks 2
(4) Raptors 4 (5)Wizards 2
Hawks 4 Raptors 2
Cavaliers 4 Bulls 3
East Finals
Hawks 4 Cavaliers 3
NBA Finals
Hawks 4 Clippers 3
This is how I think things will play out and I can admit my heart played a huge role in my projections. It will definitely be a lot of fun watching the playoffs unravel. Many players we don’t get to see play normally just because of how networks televise will be exposed so expect some new ballas to emerge. -BoSo
