USWNT Avenge Japan In World Cup Final Rematch

Just one day after “Merica’s” birthday the US women’s soccer team routed Japan 5-2 in a rematch of 2011’s World Cup final in Frankfurt, Germany. The American gals clearly had unfinished business to attend to. The 2011 Women’s World Cup Final left them heartbroken because they loss to Japan 3-2 in the dreaded penalty shootout (3-1). That very image of Japan hoisting the World Cup trophy haunted our girls for four years. This year’s team had a plethora of superstars on it: M/F Alex Morgan, goalie Hope Solo, forward Abby Wambach, midfielder Megan Rapinoe, and defender Julie Johnston. Now they are champions of the world and were clearly the most well rounded team in the tournament!!!
