Enter The Dragon

The Big 3 is back in Miami, albeit this time with a lot less fanfare. Rumors have been circulating all year that Phoenix guard Goran Dragic was unhappy in the land of the Sun. The 3 guard rotation of him, Eric Bledsoe and Isaiah Thomas really put a damper on The Dragon’s statistical production.

Goran is a player that  prefers to have the ball in order to function at his full potential. Now that the Dragon has flown to Miami he is expected to give the Heat that much needed consistent 3rd scoring option.

At only 28 years old Goran Dragic is arguably one of the most underrated players in the NBA. He is a very savvy player that has that unorthodox Euro-Style court vision.

Dragic’s current averages of 16 points and 4 assists per game seem rather pedestrian. However it was only one short season ago when the Dragon averaged 20 and 6 and won the Most Improved Player award. When you factor the lack of pieces Miami gave up and think about the sheer talent Dragic brings to their starting 5, its gonna be quite exciting to watch how this experiment pans out.

NFL Playoff Team Predictions

The Freshtake staff is young, intelligent and incredibly confident group of men who consider ourselves more/less experts on the sports we write about. With that being said I decided to challenge the staff to post their individual picks for the eight division winners and four wildcard teams that make it to the playoffs in January.

This is a tradition myself and Mykhal have had for the past few years and will serve as a source of ego stroking at the end of the season. So sit back and watch and wait for the inevitable trash talking. Continue reading NFL Playoff Team Predictions

The Seattle Rule.

Prepare for a season of discombobulated looks from Seattle fans- and pure unadulterated glee from Bucs and Bears fans- The NFL announced recently that there will be an added emphasis on Illegal Contact calls. This rule emphasis is a serious detriment to the more physical secondaries and a huge asset to big WR’s and the QB’s throwing them the ball.

They want the offensive player to be able to “Run Free”. That’s how longtime NFL official Alberto Riveron described the NFL’s new emphasis on illegal contact and defensive holding. Defenders can be physical with a receiver in the first 5 yards, Riveron said, but they must let the receiver “run free” after that. Continue reading The Seattle Rule.

3 point Shootout!!! Kyle Korver vs Klay Thompson

If you sit though the entire 2nd round of the NBA Draft, scrutinize the coaching of a assistant’s assistant on a Summer League team and get excited for SF’s setting off ball back door screens- you might be a basketball junkie! I mean that with the most respect seeing as I myself can be classified as such. To the traditional observer our behavior is pretty obsessive and completely fucking insane pretty crazy.

For our obsession every once in awhile we are presented with a treat. That treat originally manifests itself in something that you only notice at first if you are really paying attention, but usually that treat bubbles to the surface and becomes more mainstream because, well, its awesome.

Tuesday Morning I found such a treat. Continue reading 3 point Shootout!!! Kyle Korver vs Klay Thompson

Prayers for Paul George

Brotherhood : feelings of friendship, support, and understanding between people

If you’ve ever wondered about the closeness of this generations NBA players tonight was a glimpse on the other side of that one way mirror.

When Paul George went down with a genuinely gruesome right leg injury during the 4th quarter of a televised Team USA Blue v. White scrimmage the entire mood of the Thomas and Mack arena changed. Continue reading Prayers for Paul George
